Amethyst stalactites are also known as tube agate with radiating amethyst crystals. Even though they are called stalactites, they don't form in caves like limestone. Instead, they are created from mineral-rich hydrothermal fluids that fill cavities within volcanic rocks.
These slices are a rare find and one of my favorite minerals I have ever gotten my hands on!
Note: This pair of slices are tube agate with no amethyst around the border, likely cut from the end of a stalactite, or from an area of the formation that didn't have the same combination of elements needed to form the quartz. They are very unique and just as beautiful as the others.
Posts and backs are hypoallergenic 316L stainless steel.
